Guest Speaker, Jacinta Hoare has been an adviser to small business owners and managers for over twenty years. In that time there have been significant changes to the Australian taxation regime and business environment such as the introduction of CGT, FBT, GST, the growth of SMSF’s, imposition of PAYG and other such abuse of the alphabet!
Jacinta is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and is currently completing a Masters Degree in Taxation at the University of NSW.

Report
Hello Everyone
A wonderful night was had at our March dinner meeting at Hillside Eden with
guest speaker Michael Lawrence doing a great talk on the advantages of the
Training and Mentoring Program available to all small businesses. With good
food and great company we all enjoyed the evening
Our next dinner is on the Thursday 26th of April due to Anzac Day being the
wednesday and I am looking forward to seeing you all there. we have Jacinta
Hoare with tips on Tax, as well as all the usual fun.
Our June function will be a combined event with Mareeba Group and I will be
telling you more about that soon
Our image update is all most finished and you will be seeing that at the
next dinner, a lot of hard work by Leslie Ring has produced a great result
and we know you will be as pleased with as we the committee are.

Industry Cooperative Innovation Program
The Industry Cooperative Innovation Program is a $25 million program, offering grants from $50,000 to $3 million. The program requires a consortium to be formed from a minimum of three entities to cooperatively conduct a project on behalf of and of benefit to an industry. Applications close 12 June. Breakwater Island Casino Community Benefit Fund This fund provides assistance for facilities and services which are of obvious community benefit. It is restricted to the local authority areas of Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, Dalrymple, Whitsunday, Bowen,Mirani, Sarina, Nebo, Flinders, Richmond, McKinlay and Cloncurry Shires and the Cities of Thuringowa, Charters Towers, Mount Isa, Mackay and Townsville. Our Place, Our Future: resourcing rural capacit This funding initiative aims to help rural and remote communities build and strengthen their capacity to shape their future. This includes enhancing community strengths, such as leadership, networks, organisations and infrastructure, and relationships within communities and with other areas. It will assist projects that develop the social, environmental and economic capacity of rural and remote communities and promote and revitalise rural and remote areas. This initiative also includes funding for communities to identify and implement local cultural development activities that build social and economic capacity, and cultural development activities that build social and economic capacity. The funding will be offered regularly over the next three years. Funding submissions for Our Place, Our Future must be lodged with the Department of Communities by 4 pm on the following dates for the 2007 funding rounds: 30 April, 30 July and 22 October.
