president's report
Hello Everyone,
Happy New Year to you all, well the festivities are over and it’s back to business for most of us. This year is shaping up to be the best so far for the TBWN, starting with our January dinner meeting on the 23rd in Atherton.
Bob and Elaine deBrueys will be show casing some of their great wines and talking a little about the business and of cause we will be doing the taste testing …. Yum!!!!
There are big plans a foot for our International Women’s Day function this year with a work shop luncheon and guest speaker, all of that information will be sent out to you over the next few weeks, that will be one not to miss.
So that’s about all for now I am looking forward to seeing you all in Atherton to start off what will be a exciting year of events, Remember if you have any ideas that you would like to send us, please do, as this is your club and you impute is needed and welcomed.

Our Place, Our Future Funding Initiative - Closing Date March 3, 2008. Our Place, Our Future initiative provides resources for rural and remote communities to build and strengthen their capacity to shape their community's future, which includes enhancing community strengths such as leadership, networks, organisation, infrastructure and relationships within communities and with other areas.
The Our Place, Our Future initiative assists rural and remote communities to plan and implement practical initiatives that support sustainability and prosperity. The initiative targets two key issues raised by rural and remote people in the Blueprint for the Bush - the engagement of community members in developing practical plans; and helping to implement action from existing plans and priorities. The focus of the support is on assisting business people to develop the necessary skills and strategies that they require to identify and achieve their business goals. Awards and Scholarships
Queensland's Smart Awards. Smart Awards showcase smart products, processes and services that are innovative, improve productivity and help to secure the jobs of tomorrow.
The program shines the spotlight on organisations that have shown the business know-how and sheer tenacity to turn a smart idea into reality. The Queensland Government welcomes and encourages smart businesses to take part in this pinnacle for recognition of business success and innovation. Applicants have a chance to win a cash prize of $10 000 in each category. An overall winner will then claim the prestigious Premier of Queensland's Smart Award of the year.
The 2008 Premier of Queensland's Smart Awards will be launched in early February.
Applications open in mid February and close on Friday 4 April 2008.The gala presentation dinner will be on Thursday 31 July 2008. If you would like to be sent an application kit in February please email smartawards@sd.qld.gov.au
